Kanye West and Capel Rugs
You won’t hear Kanye West saying Capel Rugs are the world’s most elegant, affordable, luxurious area rugs available at the lowest online price you can ever hope to find. That’s because it would be an intelligent and well-researched thing to say.
Unless you live under a rock where no media reaches you, you will, however, hear Kanye blasting MTV for Britney Spears’ recent “trainwreck” of a comeback. Kanye thinks MTV “exploited” the pop princess for ratings - by making her the show’s opener. He said the network knew Brit wasn’t ready for a live comeback. Live performance? Are you kidding, Kanye? That was the worst lip-synching we’ve ever seen! And comeback? C’mon, if only she’d just go away and take care of her kids already. She was never gone long enough to make a comeback. And as for MTV “exploiting” her, isn’t that what television is all about?
Did anyone say Britney was being exploited when MTV made her an international Superstar with her ”Oops, I Did It Again” or the ”Hit me Baby One More Time” video?
Spears could have refused to open the show, or even be on it. She could actually afford to launch her own televised comeback special when she got “ready” to perform - if she wanted to. But she didn’t. She chose to open the VMAs. And if her performace was awful, and it was, it’s not MTV’s fault.
It’s a good thing Kanye West isn’t in the Capel Rugs buiness, or it wouldn’t be the dignified, upscale, reputable area rug company that it is.
