Leona Helmsley’s $12 Million Dog and Braided Rugs
Leona Helmsley’s dog will continue to live an opulent life with a $12 million inheritance. Even though “Trouble” the beloved white Maltese could afford any braided rugs, Trouble will never worry about paying too much.  Capel’s Shadowbox Collection of braided rugs would look fabulous for Trouble. Leona’s brother, Alvin Rosenthal, was named to care for Trouble. Two of four grandchildren will receive millions as long as they visit their father’s (her son, Jay’s) grave site once each calendar year. Otherwise, she wrote, neither will get a penny of the $5 million she left for each. Helmsley left nothing to two of Jay’s other children - Craig and Meegan Panzirer - for “reasons that are known to them,” she wrote.  Trouble, the dog, got her infamous name by biting a former housekeeper.Â
