Show Your Personality With Area Rugs

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

When you decorate your home, you want to invest in a design that will be appealing over the long term. Buying furniture is a major investment, so neutral palettes are extremely popular. You can then change out smaller accents like area rugs, lamps and window coverings to give your home a new look. This approach is more affordable, but still allows your personality to show through.

Changing an area rug is one of the best ways to achieve a fresh look in your home without making a major investment. Even with the same backdrop, area rugs can have a huge impact on the mood and feeling of a room. For example, if you have cream or tan sofas, your living room is a blank slate. For people who are bit romantic, you can add a rug that features a classic floral design. For the modern sophisticate, try bold colors like red and black on a rug with geometric or abstract shapes. The theme can be further picked up in other accessories like pillows and lamp shades. By employing these quick and easy techniques, you can completely change your style for much less than a complete remodel. In fact, it’s so easy and affordable, you may decide to change things up every few months.

Area Rugs As Art

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Many homes are built with lots of wood, stone, ceramic and windows which makes for a beautiful home, but doesn’t leave much wall space for artwork. All those natural building materials might end up looking a bit too neutral for some. We are left with draperies, upholstered furniture, accessories and area rugs to add some color and personality to these homes. Hard floorings can get to be cold looking and a little monotonous over time. We need to warm up the floors and add a little spice to the decor.

Area rugs come in every color, fiber and pattern you can imagine. They can be utilitarian or almost fine art. The most beautiful rooms have rich wood flooring set off by magnificent oriental area rugs. These rugs can add color and art to a room. If oriental rugs do not appeal to you, look at some of the wonderful contemporary designs available online and in flooring stores. If warmth is what you are after, but not color and pattern, try some of the natural fibers like sea grass, natural wool, jute or hemp. You can warm up a child’s room with an area rug that has a game imprinted on it, so it becomes entertainment as well as a rug. Area rugs can be moved from room to room, or used seasonally.

Area rugs Make The Room

Monday, September 14th, 2009

If you are looking for a special decor element to define space in a room, consider the area rug. An area rug can define areas of the ever popular but hard to decorate great room. One rug can define the living area while another rests under the dining room table and chairs. Yet another area rug can welcome visitors at the entry way. Area rugs can be a way to add your personality to an apartment or condo meant to be a temporary abode. When you move, simply take the rugs with you to help make the next place your home.

Area rugs come in so many fibers, patterns and colors, that it is fun to shop for them. Just pick your price range and go on the Internet. You find a rug site and key in the price range you want and pictures of area rugs appear for you to look at in your own time. There are rugs from India, Europe, Ireland, the middle east and America to name just a few. There are inexpensive machine made rugs of synthetic fibers and surface printed designs, or hand tufted and knotted rugs of natural fibers and vegetable dyes. You can spend more on an area rug because when you move, you take it with you.

Use Area Rugs to Add Impact to a Room

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Essentially there are three main considerations when it comes to choosing the best area rugs.  Although most of it boils down to personal choice, buyers will want to consider the function, design and material.  Rugs can be daring and bold or soft and subtle.  They can act as the focal point of a room or support the overall theme.  If the rug is to play a supporting role then softer, subtle tones are best.  On the other hand, a brightly colored rug or a rug with elaborate designs can make a statement or add personality to a room.  Designs, whether muted or elaborate, will elicit a feeling.  The question to answer is what type of feeling should be evoked in each room?

Just as designs stir emotions, the materials used in area rugs spans the spectrum creating the unique textures that add to the experience of the room.  Rooms can be dramatic and formal or soft and cozy.  Natural materials such as wool and silk are pricier than their man-made counterparts but are very luxurious.  Nylon and polypropylene are man-made, economically priced and durable.  The options are numerous and the end result is ultimately up to the homeowner and their intended use of the space.

Kitchen and Bath Rugs are Essential

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

There are two rooms that should have area rugs. Without a doubt, the kitchen and bath are those rooms. Nowadays, you can get so creative with your style. Certainly, you have heard of Shaw, Jute, Oriental, etc. There are a multitude of rugs available. The style selection of traditional, contemporary, braided, seasonal, to transitional make it easy to find what will suite your room. The variety of materials used make it an easy selection. I have a few friends who swear by a certain brand and material. As a beginner, I searched for a site that could answer my questions and seemed knowledgeable about area rugs. Many of the sites I shopped around did offer the information I desired.

Now, for me personally, I have a laminate flooring in my kitchen and like to use a couple braided area rugs. I usually place one under my table, and another between my island and pantry area. This is a durable type of rug. It endures traffic and remains looking good. For my bath, I decided to go with a more contemporary print, just because I like the more abstract print with some attitude. Plus, the price, guarantee option, and quick shipping made my online rug purchase feel right.

Shopping for Discount Area Rugs During a Bad Economy

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

Getting an area rug for your home is not as difficult as you might think. You can shop for area rugs at almost any home store where there are wonderful showrooms with very knowledgeable people. They can help make sure any area rug that you buy is of the quality you desire, since there are different grades depending on price. Having that high dollar look with a discounted price is also possible. When you hunt for rugs for your home, look online and TV shopping channels for discounts. You are sure to save a lot of cash. Discounted area rugs look and feel just like their more expensive counterparts, without the high price tag. In either instance you are making an investment in your home and families future. Quality area rugs can be something you hand down to your children.

Not placing them in extremely high traffic areas and protecting their backing with rug padding are two ways of saving them for years of use. Getting them professionally cleaned every few years and vacuuming them every week is a must. Cleaning and blotting up spills as soon as they happen will help keep your rug in good condition for a long time to come. If you are not sure how to care for your rug, ask for instructions when you buy them. You can look online for tips too.

Area rugs now come in so many shapes, colors, and sizes. The styles range from ultra contemporary, to classical and traditional. You can find children’s rugs or rugs with southwestern themes. Oriental looking rugs are in the market as well as rugs with an eastern flare to them. You can even find round, square, or rectangle rugs that will cover or almost cover your room from wall to wall. There also runners available.

Discount Area Rugs: A Great Choice in this Economy

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Are you feeling the pinch of the slow economy? Not sure what to do about it or what purchases you should make? Making smart shopping choices is key; do not spend above your means, but purchase items that will enrich your life. Since we spend so much time at home, having quality, beautiful home decor will make you and your family feel happier and more at ease in this tight economic time. Quality discount area rugs are a great choice to spruce up your home. Everyone has a slightly different style. Oriental rugs are a popular choice since they work well with many different decors. Geometric patterns, floral prints, solid colors, even thick shag rugs are all available at affordable prices.

These rugs are available in thousands of colors, styles and sizes. Whatever your style, be it modern, country, casual or traditional, you will not be disappointed with the available selection. “Discount” does not mean low-quality. No longer do inexpensive rugs have to look cheap or feel stiff. They now look as authentic as if you had traveled to Turkey to pick one up, and can be made of fine silk and wool. Not to mention the quality man-made materials that are extremely durable and easy to care for. Unlike pricey Persian or Oriental rugs, discount area rugs are less expensive to repair as well.

Discount area rugs work perfectly for busy families. If you have children or pets, you know how much traffic one rug can get! Check online for a huge selection of rugs that will withstand anything your family can dish out, without having to pay for the expensive brands. You do not have to sacrifice style or comfort to have a durable, washable rug in your home. They are also helpful to keep your family warm and cozy.

If you have a house with hardwood floors, ceramic tiles or other chilly flooring, you will greatly appreciate the warmth that area rugs can give. Buying a few discount area rugs instead of replacing drafty doors will save you money on you heating bill and keep every one’s feet toasty in the winter. Rugs define spaces, make large rooms feel more comforting, and create depth and visual interest. If you plan on redecorating an entire room, area rugs make an easy, inexpensive start. After you place the rug, the rest of the room will come together nicely. Keep in mind that rugs set the tone and mood of the room, so choose one that makes you feel the most at home!

Bring extra warmth to your home with an area rug

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

About 2 years ago I decided that our floors needed to be redone.  We had wall to wall carpet, but that was getting really old, so I decided to rip it all out and start from scratch.  I loved how easy laminate flooring went down, so I put that in every single room, except for the kitchen and baths, which I kept tile.  After all that I was left with all hard surfaces and very little warmth.  I found a few area rugs that made all the difference, and brought that extra warmth that I was looking for, and that lacked so much because of the change.

Area rugs are an easy way to update your home decor

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

I am the kind of guy who always wants change to be happening.  If you come to my house one month, and then decided that you would like to visit me again the next month you will see a completely different looking home.  Some of my friends tell me that I am obsessive, I just say that I am compassionate about making my home the most creative and fun place possible.  I recently purchased all new area rugs that really brought out the new blinds that I had installed.  I know that one day I will get it just right.

Find great area rugs on a budget

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

I have a grand mother who recently had a fire in her home. There wasn’t a whole lot that was damaged, but there were a few things. She doesn’t have all the money in the world, so a few of us are getting together some money to try and replace the things that the fire took. We would rather replace them then have to have her take out an insurance claim only for her bills to get higher. My job is to replace the two area rugs that were in the room when the fire started. I have found this great website to get both of them and still come under budget.
